Sixth cannibal suspect arrested

One of the suspects had initially handed himself over carrying human body parts.

A man suspected of being involved in the recent Estcourt cannibalism case has been arrested in Izingolweni, KwaZulu-Natal, South Coast Herald reports.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele confirmed late yesterday (Wednesday) that he was the sixth suspect to be arrested.

“The 25-year-old was hiding in the Izingolweni area. He was arrested and charged, and will appear in court today (Thursday),” said Colonel Mbhele.

One suspect reportedly walked into a police station in Estcourt on August 18, claiming to be “tired of eating human flesh” before producing part of a human leg and a hand.

The men will face charges including murder and the possession of human body parts. One suspect is believed to be a traditional healer.
