According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, the man and his wife had dropped their son off at the man’s parents in Silver Avenue at 3pm.
“The grandparents had just returned gone into their home with their grandson when a white Nissan Levina stopped behind the victims’ Audi A4,” says Capt Ramphora.
Two armed hijackers jumped out of the Nissan. One of the hijackers went to the passenger side and the other to the driver’s side and they ordered the couple to get out of the car and lie down on the ground. They then demanded the husband hand over the car keys.
Capt Ramphora says after the man threw the keys at one of the hijackers who then jumped into the Audi while his accomplice got back into the Nissan.
“The drove off in both cars, having also stolen the husband’s cellphone and wallet,” says Capt Ramphora.
No shots were fired and no arrests have been made.
