FERH celebrates women

Far East Rand Hospital celebrated Women's Month on August 19 in the Anna Schoeman hall.

The hospital board decided to have a special day for the female staff of the hospital. This included the doctors, nurses, admin staff, cleaners and other members who were available to celebrate and could take time off during their busy working day.

According to the hospital board chairman, Sindi Makha, everyone were treated to refreshments on their arrival at the beautifully decorated hall.

“Scones and muffins, along with tea and coffee were served, followed by inspirational talks during the morning to inspire and encourage the women,” said Sindi.

The MEC of housing in Gauteng, Ntombi Mekgwe, and several other speakers gave motivational talks and Ntombi pointed out how far women have progressed in both working and family environment, since the first women’s march for Parliament in 1956.

The hospital choir, with their magnificent voices, entertained everyone during the morning and a delicious lunch was served afterwards.

Sindi added they wanted the day to be a day of pampering and celebration, a day on which everybody could be acknowledged and appreciated

“We want all the women of the hospital to know that they were amazing regardless of the role they play in the hospital,” concluded Sindi.
