Free eye tests at FERH
Free eye screening is done at the Far East Rand Hospital on every wellness day.

Free eye testing was done by qualified optometrists from Glen Mkansi Optometrists in Groblersdal at a wellness day held at Far East Rand Hospital (FERH) last week.
According to FERH spokesman Hendrik Buda, the hospital board invites this company to do free eye testing on patients whenever they have a wellness day.
Last Wednesday, the hospital held a special day for the female staff and invited the optometrists to do free eye tests during this special day.
“I am so happy to have my eyes tested as I cannot see far or read because everything is blurry,” says local Sydney Sibisi.
Optometrist Thando Mkansi says they come out to the FERH to do eye screenings for patients who dos not have medical aids and cannot afford to go to a private optometrist.
“Sydney needs glasses for distance as well as reading and we also tint the lenses so that the brightness of the sun does not affect his eye sight,” says optometrist Lebogang Mphuthi, adding that Sydney will also get his glasses free of charge and will be able to collect them within two to three weeks.
