Children have a teddy bear picnic

A Teddy Bear Picnic was held at Rainbow Education Centre on August 30.

The staff requested parents and children bring donations to the school, which will then be distributed to charity.

“The Teddy Bear Picnic is part of the centre’s yearly planning and the reason is to raise funds and goodies for Hope Ithemba Pregnancy Crisis Centre and for Lonmin House for abandoned babies at Far East Rand Hospital,” explained Chantelle Hartmann, administration manager of the centre.

According to owner Petro Maree, the majority opened their hearts and brought soft toys, clothing, blankets or whatever they had to donate.

The teachers were overwhelmed by the response when they saw all the stuff, from brand new toys and clothing to toddlers giving their favourite toy to the needy.

The seniors also held their yearly Entrepreneur’s Day on Friday, where they sold baked goodies to the children and staff.

Chantelle said the proceeds will be added to the cash donations they received, which will also be given to the two charities.
