Dancers grab awards

The Dance Workshop, situated in Selcourt, participated in The Cats Whiskers Dance Festival held in Oakdene in Johannesburg at the end of August and returned home with many awards.

Teachers Bonny Torley and Keri Labuschagne entered 22 groups, of which 19 came first and three came second in their divisions.

The dancers also took part in individual events and duets.

Tatum Landsman received the award for Most Promising Novice as well as a first for her modern solo. Holly Jones and Chloe Pieters both received a first for their modern duet.

Chloe Vermeulen received a first for her modern solo.

Jemma Langton won her section as she obtained a first for both her modern straight and solo. She also received and award for Best Junior Modern Character for her dance ‘The iPod Shuffle’.

Abigail Garrow was runner up as she received a second and first respectively.

Cassidy Langton was runner up in her section as she received a second for both her modern straight and character.

Nicole Veludo was runner up in her tap section receiving second place for both her straight and character.

The modern advanced class also received an award for their jazz number, the award was for the Most Entertaining Performance of the Festival.

“All the group performances as well as solo dancers did the studio proud,” says Keri.
