According to the caretaker, Corneels Pieters, they believe the first two break-ins was an inside job, as it is alleged the thieves knew exactly where what they came for was.
“With the railway behind the church, the property is easily accessible and they came for the sound system,” said Pieters.
According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, the palisade at the back of the church seems to be the way the robbers gain entry to the premises and this time was no different.
Pieters added ProSafe was quick to react when the alarm went off, and it is alleged the two men saw the security officers and ran away.
“With the damage caused to the building by the thieves we have to outsmart them by upgrading security to prevent more break-ins,” concluded Pieters.
