The following crimes took place in Springs over the past week.

* A house robbery took place last Thursday in Fourth Street, CBD.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, a man was alone at home, when three men entered his house at 11pm.

One took out a knife and ordered the victim to hand over money. They searched him and took his cellphone and cash.

No arrests have been made.

* An armed robbery took place at an empty stand in Ebony Road, Bakerton on Friday.

Capt Ramphora says the man was selling scrap and after receiving his money, he sat down to have a rest when he was approached by three men.

One of the robbers pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim, while the other two searched him.

The took cash and his cellphone.

* On Saturday a man was robbed by armed men in Main Street, Welgedacht.

At around midday the man was walking down the street and was approached by two men. One had a knife and the other a firearm.

“The robber pointed the gun at the victim and the other man searched the victim. The only took cash this time,” says Capt Ramphora.

* Two culpable homicide cases have been reported on Saturday.

In the first incident the EMPD arrived at the an accident scene at 7:15pm in Wit Road, Selection Park.

Capt Ramphora says a silver blue Hyundai Getz and a truck collided and the people inside the Getz were trapped in their vehicle.

Rescue services tries to rescue them, but the paramedics declared both people dead on the scene.

The truck driver alleged the driver of the Getz turned from Syfer Road into Wit Road in front of him. He tried to stop, but couldn’t, and his truck collided with the car.

The second incident took place in Ermelo Road at 11pm.

According to Capt Ramphora a blue BMW landed on its roof near Ashton Lake and it is not sure what the cause of the accident was.

The EMPD, Springs police, rescue teams, fire fighters and paramedics were on the scene.

Paramedics tried to get to the man who was trapped in his vehicle but he was declared dead on the scene.

Capt Ramphora says three passengers were treated on the scene and two was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

* A man was murdered in Bakerton on Sunday.

A security guard on duty at the entrance of the tavern alleged one group was chasing the other and when they reached the tavern, they pushed him aside to gain entry.

Capt Ramphora says an argument started inside the and the police were called to the scene.

“Upon arrival they found a man lying on the floor with a stab wound to the left side of his chest,” says Capt Ramphora.

When the paramedics arrived on the scene they declared the man dead.

No arrests have been made in either of the cases.

No shots were fired.
