Fun day for seniors
The smell of braaivleis filled the air on Friday at Springs Retirement Village (SRV).
The day was celebrated with a braai for the residents and public which was accompanied by music from yesteryear.
Pat Letlatla is a regular ‘customer’ and says he always supports the village to assist them in raising funds.
SRV kitchen manager Hanna Zondach was behind the braai, to prepare the boerewors for wors rolls and the steak for steak burgers for her customers and the residents.
“We are very pleased with the support we receive from the public,” said Hannah.
Always there to assist Hannah is Gwen Massyn, who helps with the food.
She said the music brings back memories and she enjoyed singing to the tunes of the golden oldies music.
Frail care residents, in wheelchairs, were pushed to the front where they could listen to the music and wait for their lunch to be served.
“The residents enjoyed the music and some even danced to the tunes,” says Gwen.
