Silver youth celebrations

Organiser Willie Cooper says people from the church get together to hold events for the elderly members of the community.

“We like to help them during the year because some of them are very lonely. We hold Bingo nights and movie nights throughout the year and just give them something to look forward to.”

The committee has a small fund and two or three times a year they take the elderly out to Spur for a fun evening out together.

This weekend, they held their end of year lunch at the church where they give them one last party for the year.

They have a braai and play music and enjoy the day with family and friends.
