New beginnings

There was a sense of celebration and community at the official opening and blessing of the Kwasa College recently.

The school will start with its first set of Grade Ones at the beginning of the 2014 school year.

The school colours will be turquoise and maroon with a hint of gold.

An ongoing project of the St Peter and St Paul Anglican Church, the school has been under the organisation of Reverent Sharron Dinnie.

“This project has been ongoing for the last 12 years when the people of the community made pleas to me for an education facility, ” said Rev. Sharron.

For the special blessing, the Gauteng Anglican Bishop was invited to bless the school.

“We have decided to put the school under the patronage of St Mary Magdalene. She is the patron saint of new beginnings which is very appropriate for Kwasa College,” said Bishop David.

Rev Sharron is hoping to add a grade every year for the next 12 years so that the school can become a primary school as well as a high school.

“Even though we are set to start at the beginning of 2014, we still have no furniture for the children, teachers or admin staff but we will make do and make sure we start the Grade One class in 2014,” she said.
