Upon arrival at the cemetery, it could be seen that the offending tree had fallen and broken through the cement wall along the border of the cemetery and crashed down upon some of the graves.
Three of the graves had been badly damaged by the tree and other surrounding graves were completely covered by the branches so they could not be accessed by people wanting to visit the graves.
According to Maria, the tree had fallen before Boxing Day and the matter had not been handled up until now.
The fallen tree is also blocking a road leading further into the cemetery.
