Public toilet remains unrepaired

The Advertiser did a story four weeks ago ('Stinker on Second Avenue' January 30) in regard to the state of a public toilet on Second Avenue.

The toilet can be located across the road from the Springs Theatre.

Upon further investigation on Monday, it could be seen that the toilet had been cleaned, but not much else had been done.

The toilet is still lacking doors and a roof, and no running water has been supplied for the toilet.

Newspaper has been shoved down the toilet bowls and people have now taken to defecating on that.

The blocked pipe, which was leaking sewage across the toilet floor has been cleared and cleaned.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro stated that the toilet will be demolished and, in consultation with the customer care area manager, the process for demolition will start soon.
