Due to the strong winds blowing yesterday, part of the roof at Springs Nissan was blown off.
Sales staff commented they heard a noise and saw some of the iron poles falling into the street.
It was then that they realised it was the roof.
William Ntladi, Ekurhuleni Emergency Service spokesman, says they received the call at 1.49pm, and immediately went to the scene.
“The road was blocked off and motorists took a detour to get onto Fourth Avenue, Geduld,” he adds.
Later on, Nissan staff were seen trying to strap the structure to fixtures on the roof, preventing it from falling on the tar road between them and Springs Fire Station.
Ross Henderson, Nissan dealer principal, says the roof has been pulled off into the street, where it is being cut up into pieces.
The pieces will be taken away and the roof will be replaced in due time.
