KCC cricket trophy in Springs
The team captain is proud of his team for bringing the trophy home
Springs Old Boys’ senior soccer side bagged another win by bringing home the KCC T20/20 Final trophy.
The six weeks’ tournament was held in Roshni, Vanderbijlpark, recently where 12 teams battled it out for the trophy.
The match against Lenz quickly proved Old Boys’ is a team to be reckoned with.
Javid Patel, team captain, says they knew they were facing a tough game.
Old Boys’ was batting first and there was lots of movement for the bowlers.
Irfan Hansrod was the top scorer for the day scoring 69 not out, with Faisal Abdbulhameed scoring 43 quick fire and Zahir Patel scoring 28 runs, contributing with the bat to give Old Boys’ a total of 180/4 to defend.
Javid said the Lenz team was confident they were going to win the game, but Old Boys’ had other plans.
Old Boys’ always enters this tournament and previously only reached the semi-finals, but this time they nailed it.
They bowled Lenz out for 180 runs after 20 overs and won by 35 runs.
Javid said his bowlers played against a much stronger team, but stayed positive, bowled aggressively and extremely well.
The man of the match was Irfan Hansrod, man of the tournament Nazim Gulli and best all rounder of the tournament is Zakir Patel.
It was a proud moment for the captain and his team when they received the winning trophy.
