Youth and Community Star Awards 2014

The honouring of students who achieve

Learners and community members are being honoured.

The Springs Rotaract Club is honouring students who have excelled in a particular field such as sport, academics, culture and “heart”.

The club asks all schools in Springs to submit one candidate in each of these fields.

High schools may nominate two candidates per field, one for juniors (Grades eight and nine) and one for seniors (Grades 10, 11 and 12).

The closing date for entries is August 17.

An awards evening will be held in September.

Criteria is as follows:

In the sport category, any student who has achieved exceptional sporting results, including National or Provincial Colours or participation in a variety of sports, can be entered.

For culture, a student who has achieved exceptional cultural results, such as participation in eisteddfods, debate teams, choral and so forth.

A student who has faced any obstacles to achieve academic success, may also be entered.

The “heart” category includes any persons who have excelled in any voluntary or community service and who has initiated any projects that have benefited the less fortunate. Information on this should be included in the entry.

Likewise, if members of the public want to nominate Springsites who feel they have stood out in their dedication to the community, they should inform the Springs Rotaract Club so that they can recognise their efforts as well.

Entries can be either through email, Facebook or phone.
