Skoonplaas women start sewing

Jesus Outreach Feeding Scheme of the Jesus is Light church is teaching women of Skoonplaas informal settlement to sew.

Making their own skirts, scarves, slippers and hats, these women are quickly getting the hang of sewing.

San van Wyk, who is the driving force behind this scheme, has helped the people of Skoonplaas on many occasions.

She provides them with clothes and food, and has now started this workshop-like environment where she teaches them necessary skills which can be vital for residents of Skoonplaas.

Tomorrow San is also receiving a small group of children from the informal settlement to teach them a few things.

The sewing machines which these women use to create their clothing, are all donated machines and has helped San a great deal with the development of the Skoonplaas women.

San has many more plans she wants to put in action to help the men, women and children of Skoonplaas alike.
