Policeman shoots at two burglars

One of the two robbers attempting a break-in in at policeman's home at Strubenvale, was killed.

A Springs policeman was asleep at his house in Strubenvale when he heard his dogs barking at 1.10am this on last Friday.

He peeped through the window and saw two men opening his garage door, attempting to steel his motorcycle.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says when the armed policeman went outside one of the robbers hit the policeman on one hand with a piece of iron.

Ramphora says the policeman fired two shots, killing one robber and injuring the other one.

The injured man jumped over the fence and ran away.

The policeman then called the police.

Ramphora says a case of murder has been opened at the Springs Police Station and it is being investigated.
