Church registrations extended
Accredited churches have the advantage of being eligible to obtain land through a bidding process.
Ekurhuleni metro extended the registration period for submission of applications to be placed on the municipality’s database of churches.
Due to the overwhelming requests from the religious community, the metro has extended the deadline from October 10 to November 10.
Themba Gadebe Ekurhuleni metro’s spokesman says the metro has extended the deadline after receiving an overwhelming response from churches that were interested in registering.
The registration will serve as part of an accreditation process to determine the eligibility of churches to access land and municipal facilities.
Gadebe urges churches to register, as accredited churches have the advantage of being eligible to obtain land through a bidding process.
Churches that have not registered yet may collect and submit accreditation forms from their nearest Customer Care Centre.
The submitted forms will be collected by the Health and Social Development Department and feedback will be given to the applicants after the database has been formed.
