Robbery victims chase after robbers

Two men were threatened with a knife before they were robbed last Wednesday.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the men were walking at Grootvlei Mines, when the were approached by two men.

One of the men, armed with a knife, threatened to stab one of the victims if they did not hand over their cellphones, cash and their bicycle.

He allegedly pressed the knife against one of the victim’s ribs.

The robbers took off with the stolen goods, but the two victims chased after them.

Ramphora says while chasing the robbers, the victims came across a sector four police vehicle and asked them for assistance.

They managed to catch up with up with one of the robbers and arrested him.

“The knife used to threaten the victims with was recovered,” says Ramphora.

The robber was taken to the Spring police cells and will appear in court soon.
