Large group receives Rotary awards

The annual Rotary Club of Springs awards were given to a large group of people.

The aim of the award ceremony is to recognise the achievements of various members of the Springs community.

Pupils from 11 schools including five high schools and six primary schools in Springs received sport, culture, academic and heart category awards.

Leandi de Wets, a teacher at Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck received a youth and community stars award.

Chanré van der Merwe and Diane Taggart from SpringsCare Community Centre were recognised for their achievements by serving the community.

Jill Veritas, Gabriella Bonaretti and Silvia Bonaretti each received a certificate of excellence in recognition of outstanding dedication to the community.

William Makepeace Thackeray once said: ” Next to excellence is the appreciation of it”.

Siobheanne Landsberg says she believes by recognising and acknowledging the award recipients, they can foster a greater sense of leadership, camaraderie and awareness in what they do.

“Powering the future we want means we want a future full of great humanitarians, leaders, innovators, sport people and thespians who constantly aspire to give their best,” she says.

These people will constantly aspire to give their best and not only have a vision of where they are going but they will also remember where they have come from.

She says Springs is blessed with wonderfully talented and philanthropic individuals and the potential for these individuals to do great things is remarkable.
