It is time to grow that mo

In doing so any man may become walking, talking billboards for men’s health.

With November being commemorated as Movember many men will suddenly grow a moustache or cut off their beards.

Movember, according to the website, za.movember.com is commemorated to raise awareness about men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

Read more here about this cancer.

With this the men are bringing back their moustaches (or mo).

The “Mo Bros” take action by changing their appearance through the growth of a new moustache for the 30 days of Movember.

Men who already have the growth can opt to support the awareness campaign Sign up for Movember by shaving off their beards, to promote men’s health.

There is also space for “Mo Sistas” who can commit in supporting the men in their lives while they are helping to promote men’s health at home, in the workplace and within their community.

The website gave rules for Movember:

  •  Start November 1 with a clean face.
  •  Grow and groom your mo for the 30 days of November.
  •  Don’t fake it with beards, goatees or fake moustaches.
  •  Use you moustache to create conversations about men’s health.
  •  Each Mo Bro must conduct himself like a true gentleman.

Growing a moustache is not as easy as it seems.

Some local men whom the Addie spoke to about their moustaches say that they had proudly grown them for years.

For some men it is such a personal part of them that they will not talk about it.

Willie Kemp says that it takes years of regular grooming and cutting to get a good moustache.

David Dorning and Lionel Joubert say, just as Willie, they have had their moustaches since they were very young.

Allan Vorster says although he regularly shaves his mo and beard, he loves having it.

Lionel Joubert has had his moustache since he was 20 years old.
