Gifts from a lost friend

Rachel Marais handed over sentimental gifts to a group of arts and crafts women at their year-end party on Saturday.

Elaine Pittendrigh Blanks was a very well known and respected resident of Springs who died on August 21 at the age of 76.

Elaine was always involved with this arts and crafts group and made gifts for her friends in this group.

She never got to finish the gifts before her death.

Rachel managed to get hold of the gifts and finished them for the women.

“She was very talented and was always ready to lend a hand or teach others some of her many arts, a very patient and devoted woman,” says Rachel.

Rachel adds although she was riddled with arthritis and suffered much pain on a daily basis due to many health problems, she never complained.

“She was a jolly, friendly, fun-loving woman who had a great sense of humour.”Elaine was a member of the Baptist Church in Eastvale and never missed a service on Sundays.

“I finished the gifts off so that they can all receive their gifts from Elaine, who is no longer with us, that were made with so much love.”
