Man injured while fighting off robber

A man sustained minor injuries on Saturday while fighting off intruders in his house in Eastvale.

He and his wife were asleep when he heard strange noises and went to investigate.

The victim found two robbers in his sitting room.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the victim and the two men were in a struggle, when the victim fell onto the glass coffee table.

The two robbers ran away with a TV set.

When the police arrived on the scene, they found a screwdriver, knife and a wristwatch that belongs to the robbers.

A case of armed robbery was opened at the Springs Police Station.

It is believed the robbers gained entry through a window.

No arrests have been made.
