The Springs police arrested two young armed hijackers aged 18 and 19 years with the stolen vehicle on Sunday.
At 2am, they hijacked a vehicle in Libya Road, Slovo Park.
Spokesman for the Springs police Captain Johannes Ramphora says the two passengers of the white Mazda Soho waited in the vehicle while the driver entered a tavern to buy drinks.
Upon returning to the car he got behind the steering wheel when two suspects approached the vehicle asking for a lift.
Ramphora says the suspects were allegedly armed.
When the woman sitting at the back noticed the guns she allegedly opened the door, jumped out and ran away.
When the suspects asked the driver to get into the back seat he allegedly took the chance and run away.
Ramphora says the third passenger also escaped the hijacking.
The tracker company alerted the SAPS on where the vehicle was situated at the time.
When the police arrived in Butler Road, Nuffield, they found the vehicle with the two hijackers who they arrested for hijacking.
The 18-year-old suspect was taken to a place of safety until his court appearance.
The 19-year-old appeared in court on Tuesday. Details of the hearing were unknown at the time of going to print.
