Nyala bursts through wall

An SAPS Nyala was used to smash through a wall at a premises in Selection Park this morning (Thursday).

The SAPS were on scene at a property in Selection Park this morning where, according to local CPF members on scene, it is alleged precious metals are being stored.
At this stage police are unable to release details of the operation but the alleged raided began at 7.30am this morning.
The neighbour, Vince Bonney, says he heard the alarm going off and ran outside to see what was happening.
He saw two Nyalas standing in position in front of the wall to the heavily secured premises which had been rammed and damaged by one of the vehicles.
When he enquired about what was happening he was told the operation could not be discussed.
Speaking to the Addie he said the property is heavily secured referring to it as “like Fort Knox”.
Commenting on the destruction he said: “Oh my word. The owners are going to be very upset because they just finished painting the wall last week.”
When the Addie arrived on the scene, the uniformed police were about to leave but could not, at that stage, offer any comment about what the operation had entailed.
The Addie will continue to investigate and bring you updates as information becomes available.
