Heart attack claims 20-year-old

When she died on Monday, Clarissa Vorster (20) was the last of hree best school friends, who should all have matriculated in 2012, to die.

Clarissa Vorster, a chef with a bright future, was friends with Minke Aucamp who died at 18 during a hijacking in front of her home in Eastvale and Eliska Pieterse who died last year when she was 19.

Minke’s died on October 25, 2012, while writing her matric exams, when she was shot at point blank range in the driveway at her Eastvale home.

Clarissa’s parents could not give details about Eliska’s death in February last year but said she “suddenly died at home”.

The three girls were best friends during their school years at Hoƫrskool Dr Johan Jurgens.

Clarissa’s mother, Lisa, says she thought it was one of Clarissa’s pranks when she did not find her in her bed on Monday morning.

Instead she discovered Clarissa already cold and purple in her face on the floor on her bedroom,

She and her husband Flippie took Clarissa to the Far East Rand Hospital in their bakkie, where she was declared dead.

Although she suspected that Clarissa was dead when she found her, Lisa called for an ambulance, which apparently only arrived two hours later after the young woman has already been taken to FERH.

The autopsy report indicated that Clarissa died of a massive heart attack, but did not detail why or at what time the attack occurred.

Her last post on Facebook, at around 10pm on Sunday evening, said: “Lord I know I am not here to stay, but thanks for waking me up today. Prepare me for what may come my way.”

Clarissa was a student at Laerskool PAM Brink and Hoƫrskool Dr Johan Jurgens, where she met her best friends.

After school she went to hotel school, where she finished her course last year.

Lisa says Clarissa was optimistic about this year, which she started by specialising in pastry-making.

Clarissa lived “full-out, laughed a lot and was always pulling a prank on someone,” said her mother.

She was also known for her “Smufie car” that wizzed around town.

Clarissa leaves behind her parents Flippie and Lisa and brother Armand.

Her funeral was held on Thursday at noon at the Nededuitche Hervormde Kerk in Geduld.
