Gauteng parents will now be able to use a web-based application to apply for admission into public schools for their children.
The Gauteng MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi, recently launched the department’s online application service for learner admissions.
It is hoped this will minimise long queues at schools, streamline the system and allow for a fair process.
The learner application period for 2016 started on Monday and will end on May 26.
The launch involved a demonstration of the application and the distribution of pamphlets, encouraging parents to register on time and avoid a last minute rush.
