Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mondli Gungubele responded to protesters outside the Ekurhuleni Council Chambers, in Germiston, earlier today (May 28).

The protest was held by members of the Ekurhuleni Peace Corps over various grievances.

Members claim they were promised jobs as either Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department officers, security officers, traffic wardens, environmental officers and emergency services workers, but nothing has materialised.

The members also claim they have not been paid in full for the past two years.

Gungubele asked the protesters to send a memorandum to his office and said his team would hopefully get back to them by the end of next week.

The budget speech was delivered at the chamber today by finance MMC Clr Moses Makwakwa.
