Silica sachets can be useful

Don't throw away those little waste packaging silica sachets as they might come in handy some day.

These sachets can always be found in the box of your new shoes or appliance, and are thrown away.

Before throwing the packets away, read the following top tips to turn the sachets into useful items around the house:

* Rescue a water-damaged cellphone.

So many people drop their phones in water, in a cup of tea or even in the toilet.

This disaster can be turned around by switching off the device off, removing the battery and putting it in a bowl full of the silica sachets overnight.

The silica gel will absorb the water, and the phone and battery should dry by the morning.

When re-assembled it should spring back into life once more.

* Store seeds

All avid gardeners will relate to the horror of discovering mould has destroyed last year’s seeds.

One of the most creative uses of the sachets is its ability to keep seeds dry all year round.
