Afriforum will once again be conducting tests to ensure that the water in Springs is safe

Andries van der Walt (48) and Richardt Lubbe (41) who are both from the non-profit organisation, AfriForum are once again testing to check that the water in Springs is safe.

The water tests, which are done annually, determine whether our drinking water and natural water is safe for residents and animals.

Ten tests will be conducted on samples of water from various places in the Springs area.

Andries says, “We will conduct five tests on ‘blue’ water and five tests on ‘green’ water.”

Blue water is the water we consume and green water is the natural water from dams, rivers and the Blesbokspruit.

Samples will be taken at different points of the Blesbokspruit in order to ensure that the water is not contaminated.

“The water needs to sit for two days before we can test it to ensure correct results,”says Andries.

Richardt, who is the chairman of the AfriForum, says they will get an overall impression of the water in the Springs area.

The tests done last year revealed that the water was up to standard and was safe for consumption.

Once the AfriForum team has the results for the water they will release them to the Addie.
