The couple was asleep at 3am when they were awaken by the sound of the safety door in their bedroom being broken.
Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says three armed suspects overpowered the couple and tied them both up with shoelaces.
The suspects were all wearing gloves and asked where the safe was.
Ramphora says the trio searched the house and took three TVs, a laptop and jewellery and fled in a green Hyundai Tuscon.
The total value of the stolen goods are estimated to be R70 000.
No arrests have been made.
SAPS found the abandoned vehicle in Lindelani, Kingsway.
However, the vehicle keys were nowhere to be found.
