‘Beware of raffle ticket fraud’ warns Springs Child Welfare
The sale of raffle tickets on behalf of the Springs and KwaThema Child Welfare Society was stopped recently and they urge the community not to buy more tickets from anyone.
The raffle was for the car sponsored by a local company and was initiated as a fund-raising event for the society towards helping vulnerable children in the community.
In September child welfare’s project manager, Sanet van Moerkerken, urged the community to stop buying tickets as they had to stop ticket sales due to unforeseen circumstances.

“Despite this warning there are still people buying tickets.
“The vehicle is no longer available to be raffled and the ticket booklets have been cancelled,” she says.
However, she says there are still 10 booklets in circulation and the community should not buy any tickets from anyone trying to sell them.
If anyone who has bought tickets has any queries they can contact Sanet or Rose Moagi on 011 812 2345/6.
Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora reminds the community that buying raffle tickets from unauthorised sellers is risky, since there is no guarantee that it is valid.
“Ticket fraud is theft and we are currently investigating the case,” he says.
