‘Thank you’ – and meaning it
It is not always easy to show gratitude that is meaningful, that means more than just a ‘thank you’.
Saying thank you may seem simple, but giving really heartfelt thanks can be complicated.
Sometimes it depends on ourselves, as we feel the more people do for us the less appropriate ‘thank you’ becomes.
You never know if you should contact the person or write them a note.
When writing a note, you don’t always know what to say.
Showing how much someone’s help meant to you is also not that easy.
One idea is to express your heartfelt appreciation in meaningful words.
By making use of appropriate quotations, you can sometimes say more than just thank you.
A few quote ideas:
• “Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out.” John F Kennedy.
• “Gratitude is the memory of the heart.” Jean Baptiste Massieu.
• “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.” Oscar Wilde.
• “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” John F Kennedy.
• “To the generous mind the heaviest debt is that of gratitude, when it is not in our power to repay it.” Benjamin Franklin.
Saying thank you can be the biggest hurdle for some people.
But say thank you when you really, really mean it.
A sincere thank you note might mean the world to the person receiving it – a note they will treasure and remember forever.
Buying a gift is not always necessary or possible, but the art of saying thank you can transform your life.
