Two men were robbed and kidnapped in Wright Park on September 7 by three armed suspects dressed in police jackets and masks.

According to Springs police spokesperson Sergeant Charity Zwane, the 45-year-old victim’s vehicle was parked in his friend’s driveway before the two men moved to sit in another vehicle, where three unknown men approached them.

“The suspects were allegedly wearing police jackets and police masks and were armed with firearms,” said Zwane.

“The victims were searched, and two cellphones and approximately R800 in cash were taken.”

She added that the suspects allegedly forced both victims into the back seat of another vehicle, instructed them to keep their heads down, and drove them to an open field where their hands were tied with cable ties.

Zwane said the suspects left the victims in the field and drove away in a blue Volkswagen Polo.

“The victims managed to free themselves and proceeded to the nearest house where they sought assistance. The area was subsequently identified as Vlakfontein,” she said.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
