Alarm scares suspects off

While on routine patrol in Geduld, a security guard was approached by an armed suspect who ordered him to go to the guard hut in Javelin Road, on Sunday.

It was around 9pm when the security guard and the suspect entered the guard hut, where two more suspects were waiting for them.

SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the suspects tied up the security guards with electrical wire and then proceeded to an office building.

“They fled when the alarm in the building was triggered,” says Ramphora.

The security guards claim two of the suspects were armed and they saw five suspects running away.

Ramphora says the suspects only got away with three cellphones.
