Reports of Gavin Ramsay’s death
The Addie has received reports that motorcycle champion Gavin Ramsay has died in an accident.
While we cannot confirm his passing at this stage, we are currently investigating the reports which indicate he sustained multiple injuries in an accident in Killarney, Cape Town today (Saturday).
Ramsay was a long-time East Rand resident.
The Springsite attended Springs Boys High.
At the time of the alleged accident, he was competing in the second SA TT motorcycle race at the annual Passion for Speed.
IOL reports: “Ramsay’s Suzuki slid and went down under braking into Turn 1 at the start of lap three, apparently slipping on oil.
“Ramsay was flung off his machine, sustaining injuries which proved fatal at the scene.”
The Addie will publish more detail when we have it.
The Addie joins these friends in offering his family our condolences.
