Robbers lock man (79) in bathroom

A 79-year-old Selcourt resident was locked in the bathroom during a house robbery at Windsor Street, Selcourt on Monday.

The man was in the kitchen at 11.40pm, when he heard a loud noise at the front door.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the man went to investigate and found three suspects standing in the dining room, one of them holding a pick head.

The suspects allegedly asked the man for his safe and pushed him into his bedroom, where his wife (age unknown) was sleeping at the time.

“When the suspects opened the safe they only found documents in the safe,” says Ramphora.

The suspects locked the man in the bathroom.

A TV set, tablet and two cellphones were taken from the house and loaded into the man’s blue Chev Spark.
