Don’t join the wrong queue! Check your voting station before heading to the polls
Registered voters are urged to confirm their designated voting stations before heading to the polls to avoid unnecessary delays or being turned away.
To avoid waiting in long queues only to be turned back, registered voters are advised to make sure they go to the voting station where they are registered.
Desmond Dlamini, the IEC presiding officer at the Springs Civic Centre voting station, told the Springs Advertiser they have experienced a few instances where registered voters arrived to vote even though they are registered at a different voting station.
According to the Electoral Commission of South Africa, people should check their voter registration details and confirm their voting station t avoid unnecessary delays.
“The electoral staff will assist in locating your correct voting station, then you will be able to go to the correct voting station to cast your vote. If you are unable to vote in the voting station in which you are registered, you will forfeit your vote,” the IEC said.
