Woman receives suspended sentence for child negligence

Clara Kambizi (26) from Slovo Park was recently sentenced to three years imprisonment, suspended for five years, for child negligence in the Springs Regional Court.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the mother was arrested at 5.30am, on January 19, after a neighbour called the police at 2.30am about a three-year-old child crying in a shack.

“We had to cut the chain and padlock to gain entry to the shack, where we found the child, who cried out ‘I am looking for my mother’,” says Ramphora.
