This is according to resident Springs resident Barend van Heerden who recently drove past the pool in Pridgeon Avenue, Selection Park.
He finds it unacceptable that the metro has spent so much money upgrading the swimming pool and the inside area, but neglects to maintain the garden.

“It looked like there were beautiful flowers planted in the flowerbeds, but now it is a mixture of untamed plants and weeds,” he says.
The metro recently reported they are well on schedule with the grass cutting situation, but due to the rains they have had to postpone the process.
Van Heerden says the grass on the pavement next to the swimming pool has not seen a lawnmower in months.
Metro spokesman Themba Gadebe acknowledged the state of the gardens and pavement.
Without a budget allocated for this project, the metro also claims they have no dedicated team to look after the facility.
“However, we have sourced savings to fund this project for the remainder of the cutting season,” says Gadebe.
This will include the pavement.

“We are putting the necessary measures in place to resolve the situation and are in the process of contracting a supplier,” he says.
A well-known garden service was suggested as a possible contractor by Van Heerden, but Gadebe says it is impossible to predict the outcome of the supply chain process.
