At least two of the men involved in the shooting at the Springs Mall this morning have been arrested within an hour of their assault on the mall.
Although unconfirmed, it is believed the remaining two have also been apprehended.
Two people were critically injured during the shooting, including a plain clothes policemen, and one of them had to be airlifted by Netcare911 for further treatment.
The other victim was transported to a local hospital.
Mall management say they are shocked at the incident, especially taking into account the level of security on site since early this morning.
While the exact details of what happened have yet to be established, Kathryn Payton of Marketing Concept says there were over 200 policemen on site, a number of plain clothes policemen, members of the EMPD, mall security and private security as well as snipers on the roof.
She said the security helicopter was in the air and tracking the suspected within a minute of the incident occurring.
