No truth to load shedding rumours, says Eskom

Springs residents may have come across rumours of load shedding being implemented by Eskom in the near future.

Eskom’s media desk have denied these rumours, saying no load shedding is anticipated.

“There is no truth in those rumours.

“The power system has been stable since August 2015 (over one year and eight months),” Eskom says.

No load shedding is anticipated in future which is mainly due to the turnaround in Eskom’s operational performance as a result of a focused plant maintenance programme.

“Remarkable progress of Eskom’s capacity expansion programme has seen new units steadily coming online from the Medupi, Kusile and Ingula projects.

“Eskom currently has excess capacity of about 4 000 megawatts, excluding an operating margin.”
