Five years for raping a boy

A 21-year-old man will spend five years in jail for rape.

Bongane Makhonjwa (21) was sentenced to five years imprisonment at the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

He was convicted of raping an eight-year-old boy at the railway bridge in Slovo Park on August 23, 2012.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, SAPS spokesperson says Makhonjwa was sentenced to eight years suspended for three years.

Police arrested Makhonjwa on August 28, 2012.

“He was granted bail, but justice will now be served,” says Ramphora.

He will serve his sentence at Modderbee Prison.
