Sewage still flows in Selection Park
Selection Park residents are bemoaning the municipality’s reluctance to attend to a burst sewer pipe on the corner of south Pridgeon and Hewitt avenues, Selection Park.
Thomas Thekiso reported on the sewage spill from the same pipe four months ago and according to the residents it has not been repaired.
Residents have expressed displeasure saying the municipality has failed to attend to the problem despite the matter being reported over four months ago.
“We have reported this issue over four months ago and each time they tell us they will come and repair the burst sewer but to our surprise, they never come,” says Thekiso.
He argues that the municipality’s delay in repairing a sewage spillage in the area also adds to a string of other neglected service delivery issues.
A business owner says this has drawn his customers away because of the horrendous smell.
Although the residents have been bearing the feculent smell of the sewage for months now, the residents say they now need a permanent solution.
“Something needs to be done urgently,” says a resident, Sibonelo Moshoeshoe.
The metro had not yet commented on the issue at the time of going to print.
