Suspects allegedly instructed to kill victim

Suspects allegedly informs victim to hand over money and they will not kill them.

Two armed suspects gained entrance into a house through an unlocked sliding door in Hanekom Street on Saturday.

A 37-year-old resident was watching television at 3.30pm and saw a shadow passing the sliding door.

According to Springs police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the suspects told the resident they are aware that he owns a firearm and they want it.

“They also told him they were sent by somebody to kill them but if he gives them R30 000 they will not kill anyone,” says Ramphora.

The resident only had R9 000 in the safe which was kept in the boot of his BMW.

Ramphora says the suspects took one of the children (age unknown) to show them the safe.

The money was removed from the safe as well as a video recorder.

Ramphora says the suspects also took three cellphones and left the house without telling the resident who had sent them.

Police are investigating a case of house robbery.
