Young leader aims for bigger doors

Highly motivated and driven leadership entrepreneur Thapelo Mahlangu aims to tackle leadership issues.

Former Interact Club president Thapelo Mahlangu recently started a local entrepreneur’s network where existing business owners, entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs share daily motivation, news, ideas, events, workshops, tips and more.

Mahlangu dreams of having his own marketing business one day which will largely contribute to the economy of the country.

“I believe entrepreneurs can alienate poverty by creating job opportunities and have a big role in the South African economy,” says Mahlangu.

His involvement with the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) programme also helps him to understand entrepreneurship in a broader sense and will enable him to be a better entrepreneur.

Mahlangu says being a part of YALI has equipped him in identifying the pitfalls of entrepreneurship which can be avoided and has given him the practical knowledge and as well as the experience.

In the process of establishing his leadership foundation, Mahlangu aims to create more employment for the community which will help fight other related social-economic issues that the country is currently facing.

“This will also teach me to educate others about alienating poverty and being a self-starter,” says Mahlangu.

“We are all capable of starting a business that will benefit the community and country at large however entrepreneurship takes a calculated risk and needs the business knowledge and contacts to run a successful business.”
