Matured Youth blessed with Christmas lunch
Early Christmas treat for senior citizens.
About 60 Awendgloed residents were treated to a Christmas lunch held at Hoërskool Hugenote’s lapa last Friday.
The day was hosted by Touched by Grace, a project run by Leonie Cronjé as well as a local businesswoman Irene Honiball.
It was a day of fun when the senior residents, who are part of the Matured Youth project, each had an opportunity to pose for a photo in the photo booth.
Leonie says they appreciate the financial contributions which ensure the success of the event.
“We wanted to show gratitude to the residents and spoil them wherever possible.
“Old people are neglected not only by the community but sometimes by their own children. Therefore, this event is our way of giving back and showing appreciation,” says Leonie.
Leonie and Irene have been involved with these residents for the past year and have spoiled them numerous times.
Throughout the year the residents were treated to a monthly lunch as well as other visits and gifts.
Leonie adds they are planning to make the Christmas lunch an annual event.
