Springs Mall donates cheque to Springs SPCA
Local animal welfare organisation gets much-needed funds.
The Springs SPCA has received a generous donation from the Springs Mall.
The animal welfare organisation is short of funding after the National Lotteries Commission stopped funding them.
“A donation like this is fantastic,” says Jenny Halvatzis, chairperson of the Springs SPCA.
“It’s a wonderful, wonderful gift.
“We have a lot of everyday expenses and we have to pay salaries.
“I would like the public to know the value of the staff,” Halvatzis adds. “They work really hard 24/7 and they sometimes don’t have a life and they deal with very difficult, ugly things.”

The SPCA not only looks after the animals in urban and rural areas around Springs, both rescuing and finding them new homes, but also
deals with national emergencies that have to do with animals, such as the truck that overturned with 7 000 chickens on board.
Although the organisation has its own fund-raising efforts, such as the shop at Springs Mall and the on-site shop at the SPCA, they are still short of funds.
The public can donate items to the organisation which they can sell to raise funds.

Alternatively, the public can donate their time and expertise to help them with the operational costs of the facility.
The Springs SPCA is open every day, from 9am to 4pm Mondays to Fridays and from 9am to 12 noon on Saturdays.
