UPDATE: Springs Mall releases statement on this morning’s robbery
Springs Mall was the target of robbers today (Sunday), shots fired to discourage mall security pursuing thieves.

Amoret D’Arrigo, marketing manager at the Springs Mall, has released the following statement with regards the robbery at the mall on Sunday morning.
“No one was injured during the robbery at a jewellery store, Diamond House, which occurred shortly after opening this morning.”
She says security and SAPS responded immediately and the police are currently busy with their investigation.
“Details currently available to us indicate that three suspects held up employees of the store before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.
“On leaving the mall, they fired warning shots to discourage security from chasing them.”
Another three suspects were waiting outside to help them escape.
D’Arrigo says: “We are giving the SAPS investigation our full support, including state-of-the-art security camera footage of the incident.
“We would like to assure our shoppers that their safety is our utmost priority, and thank our security team and the SAPS for their fast and professional response.”

A jewellery shop in the Springs Mall was targeted by robbers today (Sunday).
According to information obtained, four armed suspects entered the shop and stole jewellery.
Five shots were allegedly fired outside Entrance One as the suspects fled the scene in two vehicles.
No injuries were reported so far.

Amoret D’Arrigo, marketing manager at the Springs Mall was not on the premises at the time of the robbery, but says she is on her way there to get more information and will share this as she is able.
Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesperson for the Springs police, did not have any additional information at the time of publishing.
